Guangzhou Institute of Food Industry Hygiene Inspection  (formerly Inspection Station of  Food Industry Hygiene of Guangzhou ) was found in 1978. Guangzhou Green Food Supervision & Inspection Center, taking Guangzhou Institute of Food Industry Hygiene Detection  as a center, was constructed after subjected to the approval of Guangzhou municipal government in 1997. As a specialized food quality&safety inspection organ, Guangzhou Institute of Food Industry Hygiene Inspection  has developed for nearly 30 years.

    In 1989, Guangzhou Institute of Food Industry Hygiene Inspection  took the lead in passing through the provincial metrology accreditation (China Metrology Accreditation), becoming one of the first qualified metrology accreditation units and possessing the third laboratory status and obtaining the qualification of providing the detection data notarization for the public. In 2004 Guangzhou Institute of Food Industry Hygiene Inspection was granted with China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS) Laboratory Accreditation Certificate. Its management system and ability conform to the requirements of certification and accreditation rules. Guangzhou Institute of Food Industry Hygiene Inspection  has signed and concluded Mutual Recognition Agreement together with 58 certification institutions from 46 countries and regions, such as USA, Britain and Germany under China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment (CNAS).The detection reports are mutually certificated internationally.
    Guangzhou Institute of Food Industry Hygiene Inspection  remains in possession of a specialized analysis & test team. The technicians count for 80% personnel in the whole institute. The institute is equipped with technological department, quality control department, inspection department and synthetic department; established with sample room, water treatment room, physical &chemical analysis room, element analysis room; chromatograph analysis room and microorganism test room; provided with over 250 sets (packages) of large-scale analytic & measuring instruments and various special-purpose equipments, such as atomic absorption spectrophotometer, atomic fluorescence spectrophotometer, gas chromatograph, the high performance liquid chromatograph, ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometer, automatic nitrogen determination system, automatic fat analyzer, semiautomatic fiber measuring instruments and so on .

    Since established, Guangzhou Institute of Food Industry Hygiene Inspection  has undertook the quality&safety entrusted inspection for the materials and products facing the society, such as various food, feedstuff, cosmetic, food additive, food package materials and so on, successively becoming subcontracting laboratory of well-known institutes and many commodity inspection services ,such as SGS-CSTC Standards Technical Services Ltd , rolling out food quality&safety inspections for many time by coordinating with the governmental functional departments, such as China Green Food Development Center, State Food and Drug Administration, Guangdong Food and Drug Administration, China National Council of Light Industry etc.. The work of the institute wins the recognition and praise of relating national, provincial and municipal departments.
